We know that the thought of legal costs can be a big worry. At Richards Thomas we will fully explain how our fees are calculated, the overall likely cost of your case, if any extra costs may be needed, whether you can recover any of your fees from another party or whether you would have to pay another party’s legal costs.

We have a number of payment options, depending on the type of case:

  • No Win No Fee – if you lose your case, provided you keep to the terms of the agreement, you will not have to pay any legal fees; that is the risk we take for you. If you win, some fees are payable out of the compensation.
  • Fixed Fees – for some cases we can offer fixed fees. This provides you with absolute certainty as to how much your case will cost.
  • Hourly Rate – this is the normal way a solicitor charges; hourly rates get applied to the time spent dealing with a matter. From the outset, we will agree our hourly rates with you and will provide you with the overall likely cost of your case. We will keep you updated regularly on our costs as your case progresses.
  • Legal Expenses – you may be able to fund some or all of your legal fees with a legal expenses insurance policy; you might have this as an add-on under your home insurance, for example. We will look into this for you at the outset of your case and advise you on it if it is available.
